Mission Preparation...

The Women of Purpose are continuing to prepare for the upcoming mission to Bolivia.

Certainly, the preparation has included shopping - luggage, a long skirt, insect repellant, and of course, special shoes. But the preparation has been been much more comprehensive.

World Concern prepared a month-long Bible study for the women to complete, to reinforce the call to serve, to provide encouragement and to strengthen the skills needed for the mission.

And the women have met as a group, to study, to pray, and to get to know each other prior to the trip. Four of the women on the trip are from the West Puget Sound Chapter, but the others are coming from areas around the Puget Sound.

Seven days and counting...

David Harsh concert

On March 30, WPSWOP had the distinct pleasure of hosting David Harsh (www.DavidHarsh.com) in concert. What a privilege and a blessing to the team.

David was introduced by a couple of "characters" - and the tone for the evening was set. Playful, relaxed, light-hearted. These ladies bantered and broke the ice for us, certainly helping me relax after a busy day.

And David was wonderful. He was friendly and welcoming. He was funny and a great musician. And, he told great stories of his connection to music, and to God. (If you have a chance to see him in concert, I would highly recommend it. And check out the video on his website of him playing two guitars, one with his hands, and one with his feet!) After the concert, our son Nick was so happy to meet him, and have him sign his CD liner notes, and told us more than once that he and David had become friends. I must say, that is the fellowship that we share in the Lord - David is a sincere brother in Christ. His ministry has blessed me, and he and his family are in our prayers.

Coleen Grove from World Concern presented to those in attendance about the Women of Purpose program, and shared stories of how God is using these women to change lives and protect others from the threat of abuse and trafficking. If you haven't seen the story presented by this video, please take a closer look at the World Concern Women of Purpose website. Coleen told the story of Luisa, a Bolivian woman who has made a better life for herself and her family through the program. She now runs a restaurant; the women traveling to Bolivia will have a chance to visit her and hear her tell of the transformation that has come through the program, and through the love of Christ. I was moved by the stories, and proud of the women who are answering this call.
